Strawberry Pie

Here it is, the 3rd day of July, and I'm eagerly looking forward to my first taste of Perkin's Strawberry pie this year.

I used to make it a point to pick up a whole strawberry pie for the 4th of July get together each year. But the times have changed, the familial affiliations have re-arranged. I've not attended those yearly celebrations of independence for a couple of years, and I'd kind of forgotten about the strawberry pie.

But yesterday, while just out doing a reminiscing tour of the northland, I stopped into the Perkins on North Oak Trafficway. I was instantly smitten by the sight of the strawberry pies in the pastry case. Although I was far too full, after an excellent dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes, to enjoy a piece of pie right then, I brought one home with me. I'm luxuriating in the knowledge that it's waiting for me, even as I type.
